Turning a Passion
Project Into Global Impact

TAIB A.

Background:

Taib began working with College Ready as a freshman and quickly distinguished himself as a hardworking, positive student with a genuine desire to make a difference. While he maintained strong academics, one of his greatest strengths was his passion for serving others and staying connected to his Lebanese heritage.

Each year, Taib visited family in Lebanon and developed a vision for creating something meaningful in his family’s hometown. Rather than choosing a traditional extracurricular activity, he wanted to build a project that would create lasting educational opportunities for others.

Academically, Taib excelled in a rigorous curriculum, earning a 3.90 unweighted GPA and a 4.81 weighted GPA. He also achieved AP Scholar with Distinction while continuing to challenge himself with advanced coursework throughout high school.

Together, Taib and College Ready focused on building an application that showcased not only his academic success but also his leadership, initiative, and commitment to serving his community on a global scale.

Our Approach:

From the beginning, College Ready encouraged Taib to pursue opportunities that reflected his authentic interests rather than simply checking boxes for college applications.

His passion for literacy and his connection to Lebanon inspired a remarkable service initiative. Taib organized the collection of English-language books, coordinated volunteers to transport them overseas, and transformed an unused family storefront into a free community library for local children and families.

Key areas of focus included:

  • Maintaining academic excellence through a rigorous course schedule
  • Encouraging meaningful leadership through service
  • Developing a passion project with lasting community impact
  • Building a well-rounded extracurricular profile
  • Preparing a competitive college application strategy

Taib’s commitment to community service earned widespread recognition. He received the Presidential Volunteer Service Gold Award for three consecutive years and was working toward a fourth consecutive award during his senior year. He also began pursuing the prestigious Congressional Gold Medal Award, further demonstrating his sustained dedication to service.

By combining strong academics with an extraordinary service initiative, Taib developed a college application that stood out for both its accomplishments and its authenticity.

Outcome:

Before many admissions decisions had even been released, Taib had already earned acceptance to two outstanding universities, including one that awarded him a full-tuition scholarship for all four years.

His application reflected much more than impressive grades. It demonstrated leadership, compassion, initiative, and the ability to turn a personal passion into meaningful change for an entire community.

As additional admissions and scholarship decisions continued to arrive, Taib entered the process knowing he had created opportunities that extended far beyond the classroom.

Taib’s journey illustrates the power of combining academic excellence with authentic purpose. By investing in a passion project that created real-world impact, he built an application that showcased not only what he had achieved, but who he had become.

His story is a reminder that the strongest college applications often grow from students who pursue meaningful work with dedication, consistency, and heart.
